CHP Announces DUI Checkpoint Location and Time in Northern California
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is set to conduct a DUI checkpoint near Woodland, as per an official news release. This operation will take place on the westbound side of Highway 16, east of County Road 97, in the unincorporated area of Yolo County. The checkpoint will be active from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday. Specially trained officers will be on site to identify and address impaired driving, and they will assess motorists for any suspected violations, as stated in the law enforcement and traffic agency's news release issued on Tuesday.
In accordance with both state and federal regulations, California law enforcement is obligated to inform the public about upcoming sobriety checkpoints, as we previously reported. If there is suspicion that a driver may be operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, law enforcement officers have the option to use breathalyzers to measure the driver's blood alcohol concentration. It's essential to note that impaired driving encompasses not only alcohol but also the use of substances like cannabis and certain medications, including both prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
